Before drop-off: how to prepare your Mac
Make a current backup, for example with Time Machine.
Up to macOS 26, turn off Find My Mac; from macOS 27, turn on repair mode.
Have your login details ready to enter yourself. Never share your Apple Account password.
Your power adapter, any affected accessories and, if possible, proof of purchase and ID.
On Macs with Apple silicon, check for unfinished repairs in Repair Assistant; on Intel-based Macs, turn off any firmware password. Apple’s guide for Mac (new tab)
