    We get started.

    We start with what you already know, what you expect and the questions from the group.

  2. Block 01

    Understanding macOS

    • Desktop, Finder, windows and the menu bar.
    • Mouse, trackpad, gestures and keyboard shortcuts.
    • Customize the Dock, understand the file system and iCloud Drive, organize files and folders, and set up the Finder your way.

    The first block runs until the lunch break at 12 noon.

  3. 12 noon

    Lunch break.

    The second block starts at 1 pm. We plan short breaks as needed.

    Everyday work

    • Open, quit and switch between apps.
    • Safari and alternative browsers.
    • Connect USB devices, hard drives and printers.
    • Set up Time Machine, find deleted or changed files, and make the most of Spotlight.
  5. 3 pm · Block 03

    Safe and independent

    • System Settings, privacy and security.
    • Users and guest access, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, AirDrop and common everyday problems.
  6. To finish

    Time for your own questions.

    At the end, there’s time for your own practical questions. We’ll confirm the exact finishing time with your booking confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any previous knowledge?

No. The basics course is specifically designed for beginners and people switching from Windows.

When does the course take place?

Always on a Thursday, for a full day. When you sign up, you choose every Thursday that suits you. Our courses have a maximum of eight participants. We normally plan a course once five people have registered. Once we have confirmed that the course will take place, it will go ahead even if fewer than five people attend.

When do I pay?

Only once your date is fixed. Then you’ll get a payment link by email. There are eight seats; we allocate them in the order of sign-ups. Your other Thursdays stay in place until you’ve paid.

Can I take part without my own Mac?

Yes, if you firmly reserve an available loan device in advance.
