Device release & disposal

Old device? We’ll take care of it.

No longer need a device, or a repair isn’t worth it? Then you can leave it with us for disposal or reuse. We settle that with a short written release, including how we handle your data.

When a release makes sense.

After the diagnosis

The repair is no longer worth it, or you don’t want the device back. Then you can leave it with us. We put your order number into the declaration.

After switching

Your new device is set up and the old one just sits in a drawer. Bring it by and we’ll take care of the rest.

With peace of mind

Erase your data yourself beforehand. Should anything remain, we erase or destroy it in line with the GDPR.

What the release says.

The waiver and release declaration is short. We go through it with you before you sign – here it is, word for word.

In short

  1. You transfer ownership of the device and any accessories irrevocably and free of charge to CompuMac Computervertrieb GmbH.
  2. You confirm that no personal or sensitive data remains on the device.
  3. We erase or destroy any remaining data in line with the GDPR.
  4. The handover is voluntary and without any payment.
  5. We may reuse the device or its parts: for disposal, as a donor of spare parts, for testing and training, or for sale.
  6. You receive a copy of the signed declaration.

What counts is the declaration you sign – on paper in the shop or online here.

The declaration is in German – it is the sheet you sign with us, and the PDF is German too. In short: you transfer ownership of the device irrevocably and free of charge to CompuMac Computervertrieb GmbH; you confirm no personal data remains and we erase anything left in line with the GDPR; the handover is voluntary; we may dispose of, reuse (spare parts, tests, training) or sell the device; you receive a copy.

How to prepare your device.

Four steps and the device is ready to let go. Tick off what’s done.

A Mac with Apple silicon or a T2 chip is reset in System Settings with “Erase All Content and Settings”; for older Macs Apple describes the way via macOS Recovery. Your device won’t switch on any more? Bring it anyway. You can also remove it from your Apple Account at icloud.com/find. We’ll help you with that; you enter your password yourself. Company devices are released in Apple Business or your device management beforehand.
