MAC & WINDOWS
Windows apps on your Mac.
Want to work on a Mac but still need a Windows app? We check whether and how the two can work together.
The answer is Parallels Desktop. Windows runs in a virtual machine on your Mac – your Windows program sits right next to your Mac apps.
Try it yourself
- Post the receipt
- Check the plan
- Send the figures
Drag a file from “Documents” into the Windows program, or just tap it. Move windows by their title bar; the Dock brings them to the front.
To be honest: this is our own drawing – not a screenshot of macOS, Windows or Parallels Desktop. We check beforehand whether your app runs.
THE AGE-OLD PROBLEM
That one program only exists for Windows?
You don’t need a second computer on your desk for that. With Parallels Desktop, Windows runs in a virtual machine on your Mac – and this is how it works there, according to Parallels:
-
Mac and Windows side by side
Use Windows programs next to Mac apps and move files and content between both worlds – the Windows desktop can stay hidden (Coherence).
Try it above -
No restart
You switch between Mac and Windows without restarting your Mac.
-
Files move with you
You drag files and images back and forth between Mac and Windows programs. Windows programs also open what is stored on the Mac.

Windows 11 on Apple silicon
Parallels Desktop runs Windows 11 on Macs with Apple chips – according to Parallels, the only solution authorized by Microsoft to do so.
-
Windows needs its own license
Parallels Desktop does not include a Windows license. We sort out with you which licenses you need.
